Answers for Student wiki wonderings:
What’s a wiki?
A wiki is an easy-to-create-and-edit website that allows users to create pages, edit content, add multimedia and post comments using a simple, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. It makes working together on a common project or sharing files, images and multimedia easy. If you can use a word processor, you can use a wiki. Check out this YouTube video overview from Common Craft.
How do I use a wiki?
It's easy. Your instructor will have specific instructions, but it's as simple as logging in and starting to create and edit. Click here for a quick interactive tutorial.
Why doesn’t the link in my course let me in the wiki?
Your instructor might not have opened the wiki yet. Email your instructor to confirm this or to request access.
How do I get into the wiki?
Once you've been added as a user to a wiki, you'll receive an invitation email from your instructor via PBworks. Follow the directions in the email to get access. Click here for a quick how-to-join tutorial.
If you didn't receive an invitation email (or deleted it; these things happen) contact your instructor and they can resend it.
I entered my Campus Connect User ID and password and can’t login. What’s the problem?
Your unique PBworks username and password are chosen by you when you sign up for your free PBworks account. Unless you used your Campus Connect User ID and password when you initially signed up to join the wiki (which by the way makes things easier to remember) they won't necessarily be the same as your PBworks username and password.
If you've forgotten your PBworks password, click here to reset your password.
I forgot my PBworks password. Can you reset it?
No, but PBworks can. Click here to reset your PBworks password.
Why can’t TSC help me?
DePaul doesn't currently offer tech support for Web 2.0 tools like PBworks. You should contact your instructor with any wiki problems or issues you have. Your instructor needs to know if you're having difficulty, and he or she will make sure your problem gets solved.
Where can I learn more about using the wiki?
Your instructor will have specific requirements for you, but you can click here for PBworks's step-by-step video tutorials.
